The Formula 100 Karting
Series and F100 SoCal are primed for
another thrilling year of affordable and competitive racing! In preparation for
the 2016 season, F100 has released the F100 Socal 2016 Rule Supplement.
True to its mission, F100 will continue to provide the best in affordable and
competitive kart racing. F100 has made very few changes to the ruleset in order to promote stability. Based on racer feedback
gathered from the F100 2015 End of Year Survey, along with knowledge gained
over the 2015 season, F100 has made a few key changes, aimed to increase
competition, insure fairness, maintain affordability and maximize fun.
A list of the key changes is included below. To view the full F100 SoCal 2016 Rule Supplement, please visit http://www.f100karters.com/rules.
F100 Rule Supplement Changes for 2016:
- F100 HIGHLY RECOMMENDS THAT RACERS PURCHASE THEIR OWN TRANSPONDER before the season begins
- Helmet cameras are not allowed in 2016 - Use of on-board cameras is encouraged but cameras must be securely mounted to the kart as is required by our event insurance provider.
o F100 will have limited rental transponders on hand and we would like to rent these only to new racers
o The cost to purchase a new transponders from MyLaps with a 1 year subscription is not much more than the total cost of renting a transponder at each race, but if something were to happen to the transponder the replacement fee is much lower, and when you purchase your own transponder each subsequent year of use is much less money (~$50 per year after the transponder is purchased).

- Racers can register for either Level 1 or Level 2 classes so long as they are not new to racing. This does not include classes that require approval (Extreme classes). F100 may ask racers to move up or down if deemed appropriate.
- Non full-length rear bumpers are allowed at F100 SoCal events in 2016 with prior approval, but full-length rear bumpers are strongly recommended. Please email F100 to obtain approval. CLARIFICATION - APPROVAL IS REQUIRED TO UTILIZE A NON FULL-LENGTH REAR BUMPER. Approval is generally only granted for new racers in Level 2 classes.
- VIDEO REVIEW of
on track incidents is available at all F100 events for Level 1 classes only. This means you should
purchase a camera to carry on your kart. This will help greatly with
enforcement of the F100 driving rules. Racers may request video review of
up to but no more than 1 incident per race day. Please see the Rule
Supplement for more information.
o Some of our racers have utilized the SJCam SJ4000
camera for on-board footage. This camera is less than $100 on Amazon and comes
with accessories needed to mount it on a kart. This is a great option for those
who do not wish to spend the money for a Go-Pro or other similar camera.
- MG White tires
are no longer allowed in Level 2 classes (i.e. FC2, FJ2 and/or FK2)
THESE ARE THE BIGGEST CHANGES, VIRTUALLY
EVERYTHING ELSE IS THE SAME AS 2015!
